Last summer the Managing Director of Apartmentspart was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, a blood cancer. This is not such an uncommon disease, but what’s tragic is he was only 27 when it was diagnosed.
I have to say he’s been fantastic about it. He has decided he wants to conquer this disease and has also thrown himself into his work rather than mope about in hospital like most of the other patients.
He made a personal appeal to our customers by email to join the Marrow Registry – a donor organization matching willing donors and terminally ill patients. If you’d like to read about it his facebook page is here
He also spoke to me yesterday and made me aware of a fantastic insurance every person can make for himself and his family. In addition to donating bone marrow to others, you can also freeze your own (or your children’s). If you ever contract a blood-borne cancer it’s a simple matter to treat you with your healthy stem cells harvested earlier. It’s exactly the same as freezing the umbilical cord after birth: http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091215081211AAuWXgd
Why not do it? You can save your life and the life of your family. Over your lifetime you have a one in 100 chance of contracting lymphoma.
